What to consider when selecting a transport chair...

• What seat size and weight capacity is required?  Most standard transport chairs have a 19" wide seat and a 250 lb. weight capacity.
• What type of casters are needed?  Standard transport chairs typically have four 8" casters.  All terrain chairs, designed for use on uneven surfaces and for curb-climbing, typically have two 8" casters in front and two 12" wheels in the rear.
• Are hand brakes required? Hand brakes are very helpful when travelling up and down ramps and for that added sense of security.
• How much does the transport chair weigh and how easily does it fold for travel or storage?  How often will the chair be carried by car or plane?
